R Star Foundation completes educational project in Namo Buddha, Nepal in record time

R Star Foundation, based in Laguna Beach, announced an educational project for Shree Sansaridevi Basic School in Namo Buddha, Nepal, in August. The project was completed in record time – three weeks. The project, which was completed in September, included desks, computers and a putting a teaching monitor in place. When you have the right person and team leading a project, things move swiftly. The foundation had that with Sidd Silwal, board advisor to R Star, who is from the same area as the non-government school, though now he resides in Los Angeles.

The formal dedication of the computer room will take place in December

The computer project serves more than 173 children, complemented with a huge 85” monitor used for classroom teaching. The students are excited to have state-of-the-art computer education in their rural area. The classroom has been in full use since September.

A formal dedication/inauguration of the computer room, equipment and computers will be done this December during R Star’s founder Rosalind Russell’s stay in Nepal to oversee projects, including goat gifting.

Russell said she would prefer not to be honored because those who did the work by extending their efforts won’t be present, but it is the Nepali culture which is sweet. Russell will, of course, post photos of the formal inauguration while she is in Nepal for six weeks.

Russell is looking for an able-bodied volunteer assistant to accompany her for part of the trip to help and perhaps view either the inauguration or gifting of goats. Email her or call her directly if you are interested in such an opportunity.

The monsoons of the season have battered the areas R Star serves with extreme flooding and mudslides with deaths numbering near 100 in their immediate villages, not unlike our severe weather in several states ravaged by hurricanes during the same time. R Star extends their deepest condolences to everyone in the U.S. and the villages who were affected by the storms.
