Deep Gratitude

Deep Gratitude

R Star is in deep gratitude, coinciding with the month to recognize gratitude, I will add.  We are thankful!  We are over the top with excitement for the project we officially entered to give strength to help women grow in confidence, digital literacy skills, and voice through mentorship and creative engagement.  We are doing this as a collaboration with Garga Media, a group of journalists aimed at empowering women. Garga will mentor the women because of their big hearts and vision of what women need now. They are all unpaid volunteers, as we are.

A story on each person at Garga would be a full article about their personal achievements to project ways to lift people.  We will focus on the ‘6’ young women from 18 to 36 who will receive a computer from R Star Foundation.  Our next issue will share the background of each woman which will ground us all to know why they were selected for the program support.  (A single computer in Nepal is approximately $500. Would you like to support one of the women’s ability to gain IT literacy?)

When we have the full complement of the six new computers, a direct handover to the women will be done with photos we will present to you.  Our Board Advisor and former Board member, Siddhartha, along with his brother Chhabi, who put the State-of-the-Art Computer Lab for an elementary school we gifted last year, will continue to be great stewards to handle the funds and purchases for the 6 women.  You will recall I have seen in person the operational computer lab at Shree Sansare Devi Basic School.  What Chhabi brought about is stunning.

This particular educational program evolved because women (and marginalized youth) may be online, yet many potential changemakers struggle for safe spaces, essential skills, and even basic tools, from confidence to computers.  Collaborating with Garga Media, we will be a part of changing this by empowering the emerging voices, aspiring journalists, creators, and podcasters by providing training and resources (computers), and platforms that help them shape national discourse, shift narratives, and bring balance to the digital sphere.

We all know equality has not arrived for women, even though ‘’laws’’ are enacted.  What we are going forward with meets exactly as R Star has been doing for 22 years.  When we lift a woman, we lift the world.  Nepal remains sidelined by patriarchy and hierarchy.  Rural women don’t always receive an education.  They along, with their children and siblings, are marginalized.  What we are doing is meaningful, even if it is just 6 women at a time.

Our next matter is GOATS!  We know the women we are gifting goats to in the Kavre District.  We await our ‘’goat man’, Binod, to inform us when he has the 100 goats we wish to gift.  He knows our standards, and we trust his judgement to select the finest female pregnant or in season goats.  Bahhh.

You are welcome to contact us.  You are welcome to join with us in the ways best suited to your life situation.

Happy Thanksgiving with full enjoyment of the Fall season.
