Nepal Update

Nepal Update

Dear Friends of R Star,Because of you, hope is reaching places where it is needed most. We share an important update from Nepal—not simply about what R Star has accomplished, but about what you have made possible through your generosity and belief in our mission. In communities facing extraordinary challenges, your support is helping us show up, respond to an urgent need, and make a very real difference in people’s lives. And right now, that difference is being felt in Nepal.

The second shipment of protective netting has reached GZ Nepal, delivered by Rabin and six dedicated volunteers 10 days ago. What they encountered was personally and deeply emotional.
In the middle of the night, our founder Rosalind received a FaceTime call from Rabin (pictured) and volunteers in GZ Nepal. Seeing the devastation firsthand, beyond the photos and videos, brought them to tears together—a powerful reminder of the human lives behind this crisis.
The need remains  ENORMOUS even though this is ‘yesterday’s news’.  R Star’s Nepali Director, Rabin Sitaula, received a call from a Nepalese Lt. Colonel, soon to be promoted to General, who thanked us for the nets they finished distributing, and reinforced just how critical our supplies are: other necessary supplies are available, protective netting is not!Our latest delivery has drawn attention from the Nepali news and radio, let alone the Nepalese Army Col. And Lt. Col., and the grateful survivors, helping shine a light on both the crisis and the work R Star is doing.

NO OTHER COUNTRY OR ORGANIZATION  is currently providing protective nets. R Star remains that source, the only ones in the WORLD providing the protective nets against Zika, malaria, dengue and infections from scratching the bites.

Crews are working to clear nearly 40 miles of destroyed roads with the heavy equipment the USA brought in the first week following the disaster.  The repaired road, will allow supplies to begin moving smoothly again from China and India. But “eventually” does not help families who need protection today.

Until the supply routes reopen and netting becomes easily available again, R Star must continue doing everything we can to get the lifesaving nets supplied
Our manufacturer in Kathmandu has given us priority over the few supplies which reached him days ago without inflationary costs to us.  Another 9000 plus people will be protected with this next gift arriving.  We need big help for the purchases.

Each net is approximately $20.00 to reach GZ Nepal.  A net covers 3 or more people. Remember, no volunteers are paid as R Star is 100% all volunteers.  Your gift reaches the projects, not pockets.

Now we need your help to keep going. R Star has already wired funds to Nepal to continue this effort, but our ability to respond depends directly on the generosity of people like you. Every donation—large or small—helps us purchase supplies, move them into affected communities, and continue showing up when few others can.
Please donate today and help R Star remain a lifeline for the people of GZ Nepal.

Whether it’s $25, $50 or more — every gift makes a difference.
