2026 LUCKY Because We are Moving Forward…
March is an incredibly joyous and sacred month this year, filled with religious celebrations from various faiths around the world. The word “HAPPY” truly encapsulates the spirit of this month.
R Star kicks off the month with St. Patrick’s Day, a beloved holiday during Lent that honors the Irishman St. Patrick. Then, we look forward to Easter, a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, the cornerstone of Christianity, complete with bunnies and eggs 2 weeks later.
Our supporters are truly global and we wanted to pause and acknowledge the many meaningful celebrations with our friends from around the world.
We join our Buddhist friends in recognizing the Lunar New Year, extend warm wishes to our Muslim friends observing the holy month of Ramadan, celebrate the vibrant spirit of Holi with our Hindu friends, and wish our Jewish community a (belated) Purim.
Though these traditions are unique, they share common values of reflection, renewal, compassion, and community. May this season of celebration remind us of the beauty of our diverse traditions and the humanity we all share.
Donor Spotlight
At R Star, we are feeling incredibly LUCKY and blessed. A generous donor, Mr. M., has gifted us an ‘endowment’ fund in the form of high-end stocks valued at $25,000. The stocks will provide us yearly dividends of $1500 – $3200, allowing us to continue our impactful projects and make a difference in the world. Thank you, Mr. M., for your incredible generosity! Mr. M suggested other donors consider doing the same in whatever increment they can do. He is pleased for his tax-write off by his gift.

Michael Porto is a community-focused advocate based in California who believes meaningful change begins with compassion, connection, and service. A father and longtime volunteer, Michael is passionate about empowering communities both locally and internationally. With more than 18 years of experience building relationships and leading initiatives, he brings people together to support causes that expand opportunity and strengthen human connection. Michael believes that regardless of where we live or our circumstances, we are all human at our core. Through nonprofit engagement and community service, he remains committed to helping others, building partnerships, and supporting efforts that uplift and unite communities.
Michael has supported R Star for over 15 years and we appreciate his many contributions to help further our cause. Currently, Michael serves as our President.
