AWARDS:

December 7, 2009 we received our first International Award given by SINGLE WOMEN & WIDOWS of NEPAL

For our interest and actions to align with and unify by supporting the significant populations of widowed and single women with the purpose of empowering the dismissed, ignored women of Nepal.

We were honored at a large celebration in Baktipur before the communities we serve along with a few Nepali groups who had worked for the same endeavor to lift women.  We were humbled to be interviewed and aired on a very popular Nepali Television and Radio as well as being published in 3 newspapers.

April 17, 2010 The Joy Ministry of the Laguna Beach Neighborhood Congregational Church awarded us with volunteers, as well as their large hall with which to provide a full on fund-raising evening including silent auction items, food and wine; sound and lighting engineers and FUN.  With their help, we raised over $4000.00, all for our programs.

May 27, 2010 The My Hero Project Presented us with a short film they made of us and premiered to a large audience invited.  We were the featured NGO “HERO” of the gala evening.

May 27, 2010 Robin Altman Art Works presented us with a one-of-a-kind original water color by artist Robin Altman.  Robin was inspired to create a piece of art to benefit our international work because of our first fundraiser at Neighborhood Congregational Church. Robin donated another painting at the Joy Ministry fundraiser for the silent auction; listened to our presentation and has decided to do more to forward our successful work in Nepal. Not in conjunction, though with agreement to do so with the MY HERO PROJECT, she did present the painting to us publically.  In addition to the beautiful painting, Robin gave us the copyright, agreement to shape banners or brochures with her work on it at any time.  Robin Altman is a well-known artist in Laguna and beyond.

April 28, 2010 Soroptismist Club International of Laguna Hills gave us the prestigious RUBY award for “exceptional work by a woman for women”.  In addition to the trophy, and dinner, we were given a cash award for continuation and support of our work with the women of Nepal.

2012 Impact Giving presented a $20,000 award to R Star for R Star’s work with women and children.  The grant was sponsored by Robin Pierson, an Impact Giving member becaue of her belief in R Star’s work.
